Other Books Joe Finch has in Progress

Erawan Wars describes Joe's tour as helicopter pilot in Thailand in 1970 as the War in Vietnam was winding down. The CIA and their Air America pilots were shot down in increasing numbers over Cambodia, Laos and North Vietnam, and 28 helicopter pilots and crewmen volunteered to fly combat sorties into Laos, Cambodia and North Vietnam from sites along the border of Thailand. This book describes some pretty lawless times for pilots in South East asia and some very close calls as the aircraft were stretched to the limits of endurance over long range missions into hostile territory. Erawan wars required permission from the CIA to write and publish. Joe has the permission in hand, and the text is nearly done, but life is so busy, Joe has not had time to finish the work.

Camel, a children's book, dedicated to the children of the South Western United States is a true account of the American explorers in 1854 who used camels to explore the routes West to California. Pending completion of the art work, this book should be ready for publication in late 2003.

Mysterious Ways, is a book of miraculous healings, and true life events that Joe has been privileged to witness in his life time. All are actual events and most are miraculous tales that go beyond the ability of doctors to explain or assist. What makes each of the 11 accounts even more compelling, is that all are true and can be verified by several medical personnel/authorities who witnessed the events unfolding.

Otzie, is a travelogue of that intensely beautiful area at top of the Alps between Austria and Italy where a bronze age Ice man lived, traded, and eventually was killed. Christianna Scheumann, whose photography has graced numerous exhibitions and galleries in Europe, has agreed to provide the photography of this place of spectacular and rugged beauty. The photographic effort will take nearly a full calendar year as Joe and Christianna attempt to capture the full spectrum of beauty of all the seasons in the high Alps as Otzie would have known it.

Tears is a labor of love for Joe and is one more way of saying thanks to the Lord for all the blessings he has showered on Joe and his family over the past 12 years. As many of you know, Joe was involved in an accident at home that left him speechless, paralyzed on the left side, and without any short term memory or math skills. The doctors looked at the results of an MRI scan and gave Joe 18 months to live in 1989. His life was changed dramatically as he struggled first on his own, and then with the help of God to recover from his injuries trying to return to a normal life. Tears is waiting for input from two more 'miracles, and should be ready for publication in 2004.

Little Bear is a historical novel that tells the tale of young helicopter pilots in Vietnam but from the unique perspective of the helicopters themselves. This book is still struggling to emerge, and requires a significant amount of historical research so it will not be ready for another 5 years.
